Job Description

FMI Designs, Inc, is a well-established, Luxury Interior Design firm. We wish to engage talented and
experienced Interior Designers to join our team in servicing our residential and commercial clients around the Treasure Coast. This person will take a leadership role in
developing plans and designs for the interior, (and exterior) of residential or commercial clients.
Successful candidates will plan and create functional and aesthetic designs and layouts that boost
productivity, increase sales, attract customers, and enhance a living or commercial space in
accordance with client objectives with use of color, furniture, fixtures, finishes, etc. Interior Designers
will develop drawings, presentations, and cost estimates, interact with the client, and coordinate,
oversee, and manage the work of contractors, vendors, and installers, with the support of other FMI
Team Members. This work is generally independent and collaborative in nature.

KEY DUTIES

 

  • Reports to and takes direction from Principal Designer/Owner and Business Manager.

  • Works seamlessly with other team members for needed support in carrying out Designer duties, including leadership and mentoring of Design Assistants.

  • Frequently check and respond to messages, emails and execute assigned tasks timely.

  • Perform discovery calls for new prospective clients as assigned.

  • Perform initial contract services for new clients as outlined in company templates.

  • Prepare presentations/proposals/room design boards. Includes gathering samples, product research, product pricing [wholesale and retail], obtain detailed product information from suppliers, quotes from vendors/contractors/installers, to create project scope/budget for client review and approval.

  • Review, collaborate and prepare client design budget and scope of work plan with Principal Designer.

  • Develop and manage a detailed project schedule and work plan.

  • Present proposals and scope of work/design plan to client.

  • Collect payments from clients and assure all necessary contracts/change orders are properly executed.

  • Prepare & coordinate purchase orders.

  • Provide project updates on a consistent basis to client, trades and team concerning adjustments and progress.

  • Manage negotiations and contracts with vendors and suppliers. 

  • Source and procure materials, furniture, and products from preferred vendors, and/or develop new vendor relationships for product sources.

  • Project management of assigned projects from onboarding through project close, in collaboration with internal team and sub-contractors. 

  • Off-board client and close project, including obtaining final photos and review from client.

  • Attend weekly Team Meetings for updates and announcements.

Note: Additional support is available from other Team Members, however work may not be assigned
to others without approval of Principal Designer or Business Manager, other than to Design Assistant
assigned to Designer.

QUALIFICATIONS

​

  • Must have 3 – 7 years background and experience in interior designing, sales, service, and
    project management.

  • Bachelor's Degree required, Design related is preferred.

  • Construction knowledge and project management experience preferred.

  • Must have vast decorating product and services knowledge and experience.

  • Must be able to outline and understand client objectives for design projects.

  • Must have efficient computer skills and competent level of knowledge using Microsoft suite of
    products. Experience with Asana, Houzz, Houzz Pro, HoneyBooks helpful.

  • Must possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral, to communicate with
    professionalism and confidence to all clients, trades, contractors, and other team members.

  • Must be respectful, mature, reliable, and responsible in all aspects of work performance.

  • Must be a self-starter with excellent interpersonal skills and organization.

  • Must have excellent attention to detail and be able to assure accuracy in implementation of
    design plans.

  • Must be able to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines.

  • Must work independently and prioritize tasks to complete full design projects in accordance
    with client satisfaction and company procedures, processes, and written contracts.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license, consent to a background check, and provide proof of auto
    coverage.
